Privacy

Last updated: October 29, 2026

Short version: your photos never leave your iPhone. Forkpin keeps a small backup of the restaurants you stamp, tied to an account with no email or password. You can delete everything at any time.

Your photos

Forkpin reads your photo library on your iPhone to find meals: when and where a photo was taken, and whether it shows food. All of this, including the AI that looks at photos, runs on your iPhone. No photo is ever uploaded.

Finding restaurants

To name the restaurant at a spot, Forkpin asks Apple Maps which places are near that spot. Apple receives the location of the place being looked up, not your photos. Apple's own privacy policy applies to Apple Maps.

Your account and backup

On first use Forkpin creates an account without an email, phone number or password. It is stored in your iCloud Keychain so it comes back if you reinstall the app or move to a new iPhone. The backup holds, for each stamp you confirm:

It also holds the name you choose to show friends, your invite code and your yearly totals (tables, cuisines, cities, stars). The backup can be turned off in Settings.

Friends and challenges

Nothing is shared with anyone until you turn Friends on. Then the friends you add, and people in challenges you join, can see your name, your stamps (restaurant, cuisine, city, date) and your yearly totals. They never see locations. Turn Friends off and they stop seeing you.

Who stores it

The backup and Friends data are stored with Supabase, our database provider, protected so each account can only read its own data and what friends have chosen to share. Purchases are handled by Apple; Forkpin never sees your payment details.

What Forkpin doesn't do

Deleting your data

In the app: Settings → Delete all data. This removes your stamps, backup, account and friends from your iPhone and from our servers. Your photos are not touched.
